Miryang City Museum Reopens with a Dynamic New Look

Smart Museum, Creation of Various Interactive Children's Museums

Miryang City Museum, located in Gyodong, Miryang-si, Gyeongnam, has completed its renovation and reopened.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] The Miryang City Museum, located in Gyodong, Miryang-si, Gyeongnam, has completed its renovation and opened on the 29th.

At the opening ceremony, more than 150 guests, including Kim Seong-gyu, Deputy Mayor of Miryang, provincial and city council members, and artifact donors, attended to celebrate the reopening.

Since relocating to its current location in Gyodong in 2008, the Miryang City Museum has contributed to enhancing visitors' cultural enjoyment through various exhibitions, educational programs, and experiential events. Now, facing the need to transform into dynamic content that aligns with current trends, the museum has remodeled its previously static space into a vibrant and lively institution.

The remodeling of the Miryang City Museum was carried out in connection with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s selected projects: the “Public Museum Immersive Content Production and Experience Zone Creation Project” and the “Smart Public Museum Construction Support Project.”

The second-floor Fossil Museum has been newly opened as a children’s museum tailored to the needs of children and family visitors, with improvements made to the exhibition environment for a more comfortable viewing experience. Additionally, a smart museum has been established utilizing experiential immersive content and an AI-based information delivery system linking online and offline platforms, offering visitors a diverse range of attractions.

Deputy Mayor Kim said, “By completing the remodeling of the city museum and the establishment of the children’s museum, we have laid the foundation to reemerge as a leading public museum in the Gyeongnam region.” He added, “We will continue to make efforts so that many visitors to Miryang can enjoy the history and culture of Miryang.”
