[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jeong-wan] A man who injected methamphetamine walked into a police station on his own and was arrested by the police.
On the 28th, the official YouTube channel of the National Police Agency uploaded a video titled "A drug offender who came to the police station on his own? Feeling unwell."
According to the video, recently a man identified as Mr. A visited Seokam Police Station in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, with an unsteady gait.
After entering the police station, Mr. A immediately sat down on a chair and, when asked by the police about the purpose of his visit, began to ramble as if intoxicated, saying, "I’m not feeling well. Ah..."
He then continued muttering to himself with dilated pupils and soon showed his arm to the police. When a nearby officer pretended to inject a syringe into his arm, he nodded.
Judging that he was not simply intoxicated, the police conducted further checks and found injection marks on Mr. A’s arm and wrist.
Subsequently, the narcotics unit, called by the police, arrived and took Mr. A into custody. Through reagent tests and investigations, they confirmed that Mr. A had injected methamphetamine.
The police emphasized, "Drug use is a crime, not curiosity," and stated, "We will fulfill the mission and responsibility of the police through strict and fair law enforcement."
Meanwhile, according to the National Police Agency, the total number of drug offenders arrested up to July this year was 7,447, an increase of 946 compared to 6,501 during the same period last year.
