'G-STAR' Returns to Normal After 3 Years... Major Schedule and Programs Unveiled

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The G-STAR Organizing Committee announced the results of the participant registration for ‘G-STAR 2022’ along with the confirmed major schedule and programs on the 29th.

The participant application results for ‘G-STAR 2022’ totaled 2,521 booths (1,957 booths in the BTC hall, 564 booths in the BTB hall), approximately doubling compared to 2021 (a total of 1,393 booths, 1,080 booths in BTC hall, 313 booths in BTB hall). The 2,521 booths refer to the pure operational booth scale inside the exhibition hall, and when including the currently unreflected outdoor exhibition space and auxiliary event areas, it is expected to surpass the 3,208 booths of 2019.

Chairman Kang Sin-cheol of the organizing committee said, “I would like to thank all game industry officials who agreed with and actively participated in the complete normalization of G-STAR and the BTC hall expansion policy for general visitors, which was our initial goal. Based on the quarantine know-how built over the past two years, we will do our best to prepare so that G-STAR can be a game culture festival where everyone can enjoy safely and happily.”

General visitor ticket reservations can be purchased from October 20 through the official G-STAR website, and online reservations will be available until November 16, the day before the event starts. To prevent scalping and resales on-site and to support those who find online reservations difficult, on-site sales will also be conducted during the four days of the event only for unsold tickets. Related information can be checked on the ticket reservation page starting October 20.

The official slogan for ‘G-STAR 2022’ has been confirmed as ‘The Gaming Universe, Once Again into the World of Games.’

This slogan conveys the meaning that visitors can explore and enjoy new games within the world called ‘G-STAR,’ and expresses the goal of allowing general visitors to enjoy the BTC hall, which has been expanded for the first time this year up to the 3rd floor of the 2nd exhibition hall, more extensively than before COVID-19.

‘G-STAR,’ together with its main sponsor ‘Wemade,’ will hold a special event at Haeundae Beach during the G-STAR period. ‘Wemade’ plans not only to exhibit inside BEXCO (200 booths in BTC, 30 booths in BTB) but also to set up a special booth and conduct special events on the sandy beach event plaza at Haeundae Beach during G-STAR, aiming to create a festival that all Busan citizens can enjoy together with G-STAR.

The major auxiliary event of ‘G-STAR,’ the G-STAR Conference, will be held offline for two days from November 17 to 18 at the BEXCO Convention Hall in Busan.

This offline conference, consisting of a total of four tracks and 44 sessions, features a speaker lineup comparable to prestigious overseas conferences such as the US GDC and Japan CEDEC. Notably, many star developers representing the Japanese game industry, including action game master Hideki Kamiya and Fumihiko Yasuda, known for ‘Warriors: Fallen Dynasty’ and ‘Nioh,’ are listed as speakers.

The exhibition support program for indie developers will continue at ‘G-STAR 2022.’ Indie developers confirmed to participate through the screening process will be provided with exhibition space and basic facilities free of charge for game demonstrations.
