Formation of Community for Success of 'Next-Generation Wireless Charging for Electric Vehicles' Special Zone ... Collaboration Among Ministry of SMEs, Gyeongbuk Province, Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk TP, and Special Zone Companies

Formation of Community for Success of 'Next-Generation Wireless Charging for Electric Vehicles' Special Zone ... Collaboration Among Ministry of SMEs, Gyeongbuk Province, Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk TP, and Special Zone Companies Gyeongbuk Technopark.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dong-guk Lee] Gyeongbuk Province will hold a 'Gyeongbuk Electric Vehicle Next-Generation Wireless Charging Special Zone Financial Support Project Plan Intensive Meeting' from the 29th to the 30th, attended by more than 40 people including the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk Technopark, and special zone companies.

This workshop is the first working-level meeting since the new designation of the 'Gyeongbuk Electric Vehicle Next-Generation Wireless Charging Regulatory Free Special Zone' in August, held to prepare the plan for next year's financial support for the special zone and to establish a system for dividing technical development roles among participating institutions for each detailed project.

The wireless charging special zone will conduct demonstrations from September this year to August 2026, over four years, with a total project cost of 18.5 billion KRW in the Gyeongsan City Knowledge Industry District. Eight special zone companies in the domestic electric vehicle wireless charging field, such as Green Power and Fine Power X, along with non-profit institutions including Sungkyunkwan University and the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, will participate.

The eight special zone companies are Green Power, Fine Power X, Power Master Semiconductor, GS Connect, Ace Antenna, Ladders Technology, MyB, and By Energy.

At the workshop, since various companies and institutions participate in the wireless charging special zone, Gyeongbuk Province, Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk Technopark, special zone companies, and participating research institutions agreed to form an 'Innovation Community One Company' to prepare for the full-scale demonstration centered on the lead companies for each detailed project.

Gyeongbuk Technopark, the overall lead institution, increased the understanding of participating institutions by sharing guidelines for writing the financial support project plan and the future schedule during the orientation. It also focused on establishing the roles and functions of lead companies, participating companies, and non-profit institutions by presenting detailed project plans centered on the lead companies.

Additionally, a roadmap for building special zone infrastructure such as the electric vehicle wireless charging test and evaluation system, a presentation on commercialization support plans for special zone companies, and a Q&A session on local government support created a communication platform for demonstration execution between special zone companies and local governments.

Before the workshop, special zone companies inspected the Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District site for establishing or relocating business sites (headquarters or branches) within the special zone area. The province and Gyeongsan City decided to promote support for occupancy spaces to facilitate the prompt establishment or relocation of business sites for special zone companies.

Jang Sang-gil, Director of the Science and Industry Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “It is most important to create an environment where companies can freely demonstrate and commercialize in new industry fields within the special zone.” He added, “The province will do its best to create a wireless charging industry ecosystem in the region through the special zone with generous support.”
