[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The KOSPI index fell below the 2200 mark again in the afternoon. The KOSDAQ is maintaining a rise of over 2%.


As of 1:53 PM on the 29th, the KOSPI index stands at 2197.41, up 1.30% (28.12 points) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 2197.75, up 1.31% (28.46 points) from the previous day.


In the afternoon session, foreign investors and institutions are jointly driving the index with buying momentum, but have failed to stabilize above the 2200 level. Foreign investors and institutions are net buying 65.4 billion KRW and 36.2 billion KRW respectively. Foreign investors are purchasing 419.4 billion KRW in the futures market. On the other hand, individual investors are net selling 100.6 billion KRW.


Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, only Naver is flat, while the rest are all rising. Samsung Biologics is sharply rising by 7.17% in the afternoon, expanding its gains. Following are LG Energy Solution (3.11%), Hyundai Motor (2.51%), LG Chem (2.01%), Kia (1.62%), and Samsung SDI (1.24%).


By sector, pharmaceuticals (5.37%) and medical precision instruments (4.34%) ranked first and second in terms of gains. They were followed by electric and gas utilities (2.80%), transportation equipment (2.35%), manufacturing (1.63%), and paper and wood products (1.60%). Meanwhile, only non-metallic minerals (-1.31%), transportation and warehousing (-0.52%), telecommunications (-0.32%), and steel and metals (-0.08%) are declining.


As of 1:54 PM, the KOSDAQ index is at 689.47, up 2.31% (15.60 points) from the previous trading day. Foreign investors and institutions are net buying 93.2 billion KRW and 80.6 billion KRW respectively on the KOSDAQ as well. Conversely, individual investors are net selling 170.3 billion KRW.


All of the top 10 stocks by market capitalization on the KOSDAQ are rising. JYP Entertainment (6.95%) and Celltrion Healthcare (6.24%) show notable gains. They are followed by Pearl Abyss (5.70%), Celltrion Pharm (5.58%), Alteogen (4.75%), HLB (4.53%), and Kakao Games (4.08%).
