Gwangju University Successfully Concludes Daedongje 'Heung-i Oreum' Festival

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University's Daedongje Festival ‘Heung-i Oreum’ successfully concluded.


The campus was lively with the footsteps of students and general citizens participating in the festival held for the first time in three years.


The Daedongje, held by Gwangju University on the 27th and 28th at the main gate parking lot, was richly filled with various experience booths and rides prepared by departments and student councils, food trucks, a student song festival, club and celebrity performances.


On the first day, President Kim Dongjin operated the ‘Chong Cafe’ together with the student council president, personally making and serving drinks to students, taking photos, and having conversations to increase intimacy.


Following the Daedong Song Festival where the enthusiasm and talent of Gwangju University students could be seen, President Kim Dongjin, who took the stage, said, “I hope this festival becomes an opportunity to refresh the pent-up feelings accumulated over the past three years,” and emphasized, “The communication channel with you is always open. We will actively communicate and support with the belief that students come first.”


Also, Nam-gu District Mayor Kim Byeongnae, who attended to celebrate the festival, said, “I hope you enjoy freedom on the spacious campus and nurture your dreams,” and “I hope you have a joyful and happy time at the festival.”


The first day of the Daedongje festival ended with a performance by singer HyunA. On the second day, club performances showcasing the skills they had built up with singing and dancing delighted the eyes and ears.


The next day featured performances by singer ‘Sole’, girl group ‘iChillin’, and hip-hop duo ‘Dynamic Duo’, and all festival events concluded with a DJ club party where everyone danced to exciting music.


Student Council President Park Wonbin said, “I hope the Gwangju University Daedongje festival becomes an opportunity for all members of the university, including students, local residents, and the university commercial district, which was gloomy due to COVID-19, to recover.”
