Changwon Special City Creates Artificial Rock Climbing Wall and Forest Playground at Mannal Park

Expansion of Insufficient Park Facilities, Reborn as a New Citizen Rest Area

Changwon Special City Creates Artificial Rock Climbing Wall and Forest Playground at Mannal Park The first artificial climbing wall of international competition scale in Changwon Special City.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that the artificial climbing wall and forest playground construction project at Mannal Park in Masanhappo-gu is scheduled for completion in November.

To expand the insufficient park facilities in the Masanhappo-gu area, Changwon City's first international competition-scale artificial climbing wall and a forest playground for children's play spaces are being constructed in the Wolyeong-dong Mannal Park area. Additionally, the Mannal Pass ecological footbridge project, which connects the disconnected Muhaksan Dulle-gil trail, is progressing smoothly.

The artificial climbing wall, which began construction last December, is being built with a project cost of 3.2 billion KRW and will consist of two indoor and outdoor artificial climbing wall buildings with a total floor area of 531.15㎡, capable of hosting international competitions.

The city plans to operate programs here that allow not only professional climbers but also beginners who are new to rock climbing to enjoy through experiences and lessons. After a trial operation period, it is scheduled to fully open in January next year. Once the artificial climbing wall opens, it is expected to greatly contribute not only to improving the performance of professional climbers but also to citizens' experiences and leisure activities.

Furthermore, the Love Forest creation project, which has been underway since February with a budget of 1 billion KRW, will complete a forest experience-type play facility, a toddler forest playground, and the installation of an ecological footbridge connecting the Mannal Pass trail to the disconnected Muhaksan hiking trail, transforming the Mannal Park area into a cultural healing space.

Yoo Jae-jun, Director of the Green City Project Office, said, "We will do our best to complete the project so that citizens who have shown continuous interest and patiently waited for the Mannal Park construction project can freely use the park's convenience facilities in a safe environment."
