CJ Gift Card Surpasses 400 Billion KRW in Cumulative Sales


[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] CJ OliveNetworks announced on the 29th that its ‘CJ Gift Card’ has surpassed a cumulative sales amount of 400 billion KRW five years after its launch.


Launched in 2017, the ‘CJ Gift Card’ has steadily grown every year by offering various services and benefits such as ▲easy payment at over 20 CJ brands ▲online and offline gifting ▲rechargeable up to 500,000 KRW ▲automatic accumulation of CJ ONE points.


Since its launch, the CJ Gift Card has maintained a steady growth rate with an average annual growth of 60%. This year’s sales are expected to increase by more than 30% compared to the previous year, making it likely to achieve annual sales exceeding 100 billion KRW for the first time since the business started.


Looking at customer usage trends, more than 2 million customers use the CJ Gift Card annually, with the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) accounting for 71%, a high proportion. By generation, active usage was observed in the order of 20s (43%), 30s (28%), 40s (15%), teens (8%), and 50s and above (6%).


Additionally, the number of times the CJ Gift Card is used averages 8.5 million per month, with frequent usage at CJ brands such as Olive Young, CJ OnStyle, VIPS, and CGV. Among these, offline usage accounted for 70%.


Besides general customers, the CJ Gift Card has over 1,000 corporate clients, and by utilizing the CJ ONE Biz Mall service, bulk purchases and scheduled shipments are possible with discounts available.
