First Development of Irregular Pattern Matte Color Steel Sheet
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] KG Steel announced on the 29th that it has developed the 'New Snow Matte' color steel sheet, which embodies snowflake crystals, for the first time in Korea.
The New Snow Matte color steel sheet features a thick, wave-like ripple of circular wavelengths on the surface, expressing a rough texture. Unlike existing products that showed simple shapes due to repeated identical patterns, the fine snowflake patterns are formed along irregular curves, creating a unique impression.
To realize the natural pattern, KG Steel adjusted the drying speed of the coating by blending a dedicated resin and specific additives. After about a year of dedicated research and development, they succeeded in developing a new product that allows for a variety of colors depending on the angle of light.
A KG Steel official said, "The development of matte color steel sheets with irregular patterns is the first attempt in the domestic steel industry," adding, "Since this product was not available in the market, we thoroughly ensured quality through dozens of line tests at our Incheon plant."
KG Steel has completed productivity verification and quality evaluation of the new product with major clients and is preparing for full-scale production in the fourth quarter.
KG Steel expects sales of matte color steel sheets to increase by more than 15% compared to the previous year with the launch of this new product. In particular, matte color steel sheets, mainly used for roofing and wall materials as interior and exterior building materials, are expected to grow due to the expanding demand for architectural interiors.
A KG Steel official said, "This will broaden the choices for domestic and international clients who have had demand for various patterns, as well as for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Eastern Europe regions where matte products are preferred."
Meanwhile, the newly developed New Snow Matte color steel sheet is the latest product in KG Steel's matte series. Previously, KG Steel introduced six types of matte products with different pattern sizes and textures on the coating surface.
