[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] From Goseong in Gangwon Province to Haenam Ttangkkeut Village in Jeollanam-do, across the sea to Jeju Island, and as far as Ulleungdo and Heuksando, a total of 6,577 neighborhoods and 23 million neighbors nationwide have been connected through Danggeun Market's 'Neighborhood Life'.
Danggeun Market (co-CEOs Kim Yong-hyun and Kim Jae-hyun) announced its major achievements on the 29th in celebration of the 2nd anniversary of Neighborhood Life. Neighborhood Life is a communication space where neighbors living in the same area share useful information, news, and daily life through various local interest topics.
Neighborhood Life, which started as 'Our Neighborhood Questions' within the Danggeun Market app in 2018, officially launched in September 2020 when Danggeun Market users surpassed 10 million. It quickly grew into a service used by 23 million people within two years. Analyzing Neighborhood Life data from September 1, 2020, to August 31 of this year, about 46 million interactions and exchanges took place nationwide. The cumulative number of visits by users reached 320 million.
The topics most frequently communicated by users were 'Neighborhood Questions' and 'Daily Life' stories. This indicates that it has been actively used as a channel to resolve various curiosities around their neighborhoods and obtain useful information. The unique experience and usefulness of Danggeun Market Neighborhood Life led to a steady influx of users. In fact, the number of daily visitors from June to August this year doubled compared to the same period last year.
During the same period, the neighborhoods with the most posts were Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul; Dujung-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do; Bongcheon-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul; Yeon-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province; and Unseo-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City, in that order.
Jeon Kyung-seok, the service planner for Danggeun Market Neighborhood Life, said, "Neighborhood Life plays a role in connecting neighbors and adding warmth to the local community based on the strengths unique to regional communities," adding, "We will continue to develop the service to connect everything within the region based on feedback."
