‘Munhaksasang’ Celebrates 600th Issue with Special Edition Publication


[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The leading domestic literary magazine Munhak Sasang has published a special issue to commemorate its 600th edition.


Munhak Sasang stated, "In October 1972, a volume embodying the spirit of the times sprouted from barren land and steadfastly held its place for half a century. Now, in October 2022, it opens its six hundredth door," adding, "This special issue contains language, spirit, and heart that vividly depict the distant past."


The special issue features congratulatory messages, celebratory poems, and retrospectives from 116 literary and cultural figures. Poets such as Lee Geun-bae, Oh Tak-beon, Shin Dal-ja, Kang Eun-gyo, and Na Tae-joo contributed celebratory poems.


Retrospectives were penned by those with long-standing ties to Munhak Sasang, including Yoo Se-young, Jeong Ho-seung, and Yoon Dae-nyeong. The issue also includes short stories and poems by writers who debuted in Munhak Sasang.


The pages are filled with major content and photographs that Munhak Sasang has preserved over 50 years. It introduces images of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Gheorghiu, M?rquez, as well as previously unpublished photos of Lee Sang revealed for the first time in Munhak Sasang, handwritten manuscripts of Kim Sowol, unpublished poems by Park Du-jin, George Orwell’s photo album, short stories by Kim Dong-ri and Kwon Hwan, and plays by Chae Man-sik that were unearthed.
