SSG.com Hosts Ugly and Practical Fruit and Vegetable Fair... Supporting Farmers and Stabilizing Prices

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] SSG.com announced on the 29th that it will hold a discount event for practical fruits and vegetables, including imperfect products. The purpose is to support the expansion of sales for local farms and stabilize prices.

SSG.com will hold the "Imperfect Fruits and Vegetables Fair with Farms" for one week until the 5th of next month. Fruits and vegetables that have no quality issues but have blemishes or irregular size and shape will be offered at prices discounted up to half off.

For this event, SSG.com directly purchased fruits and vegetables that are difficult to sell from excellent farms nationwide. Through an online-exclusive logistics center, the company aims to promote sales of these products mainly in the metropolitan area, where about 50% of the national population is concentrated.

In fruits, a large quantity of apples, pears, and Shine Muscat grapes has been secured. The "Bojo-gae Hongro Apple" is sold at 7,400 won with a 50% discount, and the "Practical Pear" is sold at 10,900 won per box with a 22% discount. The "Al-ali Shine Muscat," which contains only large grapes, is prepared at 9,800 won.

In vegetables, to support radish farms severely damaged by typhoons and heavy rain, "Practical Radish" is offered at around 4,200 won. Additionally, "Oimati Chili" and "Gaji" (eggplant) are sold at around 1,300 won, and "Potatoes" are sold at around 2,700 won, all with a uniform 30% discount.

Lee Hojong, head of the fresh food team at SSG.com, said, "We hope to alleviate the sales concerns of farms deepened by typhoon damage and the burden of grocery prices due to the early Chuseok holiday, even if only a little.
