[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Seoyul] An apartment complex with 260 households is planned to be built in Yeokchon Central Market, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul.


On the 29th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it held the 13th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee meeting the previous day and approved the amendment of the detailed development plan for the Gusan Living Area District Unit Plan and the Special Planning Zone (Yeokchon Central Market).


The site is located in the station area of Gusan Station on Subway Line 6 and includes a plan to integrate and develop the Yeokchon Central Market, registered in 1970, and the apartment complex site built in 1973, diversifying the land use.


With this decision, 260 apartment units (including 23 public rental units) will be constructed, and a youth complex center (2,980㎡) to be used for sales facilities, a startup support center, Seoul Startup Cafe, and Seoul Youth Center will be established on the second floor.


A city official stated, "The detailed development plan decision for the Yeokchon Central Market Special Planning Zone within the Gusan Living Area District Unit Plan is expected to greatly contribute not only to revitalizing the area around Gusan Station but also to the development of the slum-affected Yeokchon Central Market neighborhood."
