[Asia Economy Reporter Eunju Lee] As of 9 PM on the 28th, over 30,000 new COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide.


According to Seoul and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 30,090 people tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. This is 4,625 fewer than the previous day's count at the same time (34,715).


Compared to one week ago on the 21st (31,464 cases), it decreased by 1,374, and compared to two weeks ago on the 14th (69,515 cases), it dropped by 39,425. This is the lowest number in 12 weeks for a Wednesday at the same time since July 6 (17,507 cases).


As of 9 PM on this day, 16,903 cases (56.2%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 13,187 cases (43.8%) in non-metropolitan areas.


By region, the numbers are: Gyeonggi 8,780, Seoul 6,270, Incheon 1,853, Gyeongnam 1,740, Gyeongbuk 1,532, Daegu 1,423, Chungnam 1,270, Gangwon 181, Chungbuk 989, Jeonbuk 988, Jeonnam 909, Daejeon 816, Gwangju 740, Busan 735, Ulsan 499, Sejong 233, and Jeju 232.


From the 22nd to this day, the daily new cases for one week were 32,997 → 29,098 → 29,344 → 25,781 → 14,162 → 39,425 → 36,159, averaging 29,566 cases per day.
