[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Famous composer and singer Don Spike (45, real name Kim Min-su), who is accused of drug use, has been arrested.
On the afternoon of the 28th, Chief Judge Lim Ki-hwan of the Seoul Northern District Court issued an arrest warrant for Don Spike on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, stating there is a "risk of flight."
Don Spike is suspected of having used methamphetamine multiple times in the Gangnam-gu area of Seoul.
The police detected evidence of Don Spike's methamphetamine use while investigating drug use charges against another suspect. The suspect under investigation and Don Spike are known to be acquaintances.
The police obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Don Spike around 8 p.m. on the 26th at a hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. They also seized an amount of methamphetamine sufficient for about 1,000 doses.
Don Spike tested positive in a preliminary drug test. The police have requested a detailed analysis from the National Forensic Service. After attending his detention hearing and meeting with reporters, Don Spike responded "I admit it" when asked if he acknowledged the drug use charges. He added, "I am truly sorry for causing concern, and it is all my fault," and explained, "I will cooperate sincerely with the investigation and accept the punishment."
