Announcement of the Integrated Festival Brand 'Art Festival_Seoul'
Pilot Operation for This Fall and Winter Season... Five Selections from 'Seoul Street Arts Festival' to 'Seoul Convergence Arts Festival'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced on the 29th the launch of a new integrated festival brand, 'Art Festival_Seoul,' which features Seoul's representative festivals throughout the year, hosting seasonal festivals year-round. By uniting ongoing festivals with new ones, the foundation designed the 'Art Festival_Seoul' integrated festival brand with the slogan "Seoul, where everyday life becomes a festival through art," aiming to enhance citizen accessibility throughout the four seasons and be remembered as Seoul's representative festival.
Going forward, the foundation plans to increase the recognition of each festival by promoting various festivals under one brand that reflect Seoul's diversity as it advances into a digital emotional culture city. This includes the already recognized autumn 'Seoul Street Arts Festival' as well as newly launched festivals such as the 'Seoul Convergence Arts Festival,' which combines digital technology and art.
'Art Festival_Seoul' will be held year-round starting in 2023 to reach more citizens in their daily lives, with seasonal festivals tailored to the characteristics and nature of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Spring will feature festivals suitable for family visits during Family Month, summer will host popular art festivals in places like Hangang Park during vacation periods, autumn will showcase festivals where audiences can enjoy various excellent domestic and international performing and street arts, and winter will present festivals featuring new forms of convergence and complex arts for the next era.
Before full-scale operation, this year the foundation will hold the autumn and winter seasons of 'Art Festival_Seoul' until November. Autumn season festivals include ▲Seoul B-Boy Festival ▲Seoul Street Arts Festival ▲Hangang Nodeul Island Opera The Magic Flute ▲The 1st Seoul Living Arts Festival, and the winter season festival includes ▲Seoul Convergence Arts Festival.
Lee Chang-gi, the foundation's CEO, said, “The new festivals and the brand that encompasses them will offer citizens and tourists seeking Seoul's charm the experience of choosing and enjoying Seoul's representative festivals each season.” He added, “Following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue to develop 'Art Festival_Seoul' to elevate Seoul’s status as a city of culture and arts and enhance citizens' cultural enjoyment experiences.”
