[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 28th, the Gyeongnam Office of Education signed a business agreement with Kakao Enterprise to develop artificial intelligence based on educational data from the big data and AI platform ‘iTalkTalk’.
iTalkTalk is a platform developed and distributed by the Gyeongnam Office of Education to support AI-based personalized learning.
The provincial Office of Education supports the overall teaching and learning process, including the operation of the educational community’s curriculum, through iTalkTalk and is developing AI-based educational support functions.
An official from the Office of Education stated that in 2021, the first year of iTalkTalk development, they established a data collection system and an educational data set, which is a key resource for AI.
They explained that the educational data set refers to a collection of educational data refined so that AI can process data generated during the use of digital content and tools by learners including elementary, middle, and high school students, university students, and the general public.
The official added that they collected and analyzed data in real time using data sets in the areas of curriculum, knowledge maps, and learning analytics.
This year, the second year of development, they have entered the stage of developing and applying AI based on the educational data collection system.
According to the provincial Office of Education, Kakao Enterprise is a leading Korean IT platform company possessing technologies in AI, cloud, and data analytics, and holds world-class technology in AI fields related to facial recognition and conversational (natural language) processing.
The agreement includes ▲support for AI engine and service development to activate the intelligent educational support system using iTalkTalk ▲joint research for the advancement of iTalkTalk and data science systems ▲information provision ▲customized training for teachers ▲and cooperation in events.
An official from the Office of Education emphasized, “Based on Kakao Enterprise’s expertise in cloud and AI technologies, we will conduct joint research and improve the quality of iTalkTalk’s intelligent educational support services.”
Kakao stated, “We plan to provide our leading AI development technologies and engines to public education for the first time and strengthen the public-private cooperation system.”
Superintendent Park Jonghun said, “To discover students’ potential talents and individuality, personalized education must be implemented,” and added, “We expect that the two institutions will cooperate to advance AI-based detailed student support and personalized class innovation.”
CEO Baek Sangyeop said, “Through this agreement, we will expand the educational use of Kakao Enterprise’s AI technology and support iTalkTalk’s personalized educational services,” and added, “We hope to deliver meaningful results to everyone.”
