"Where Will the Funding Come From?" Criticism
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Ahn Cheol-soo, the next presidential candidate of the People Power Party, delivered a direct blow to Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who emphasized the 'Basic Society Theory' in his negotiation group representative speech, calling it "a fiction."
On the 28th, Ahn stated through his social network service (SNS), "Leader Lee's negotiation group speech shouted 'basic,' but it was an argument lacking basics."
In the morning session of the National Assembly negotiation group representative speech, Leader Lee advocated for the 'Basic Society Theory,' which guarantees the basic life of the people in all areas such as income, housing, finance, medical care, welfare, energy, and telecommunications.
However, Ahn pointed out that to expand welfare, the top priority should be fostering new industry growth and creating quality jobs through regulatory reform, industrial reform, and labor reform. He criticized, "We must put an end to bad politics that make false promises as if paradise will come once power is seized, like Leader Lee, or that consider only private interests of personal power instead of the nation's future."
He also remarked, "Not only does a basic society as Leader Lee mentioned not exist, but no country on Earth has introduced basic income. Moreover, in our country, medical insurance and national pension funds are being depleted, and there is not even enough money to pour into these, causing increased social conflict. Where exactly does he plan to secure the funding from?"
