Prosecutors Raid Gwangsan District Office in Gwangju... Investigation into Involvement in Safe Selection

On the morning of the 28th, the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office sent investigators to the Gwangsan-gu Scholarship Foundation office in Gwangju Metropolitan City to execute a search warrant.

According to Gwangsan-gu, the prosecution is investigating scholarship foundation officials involved in the case of leaking the list of district treasury selection review committee members.

Two current and former Gwangsan-gu officials who handed over the list of review committee members to two competing banks during the 2018 treasury selection were recently found guilty in the first trial, receiving one year imprisonment with two years probation.

A former district council member who was tried together was sentenced to eight months imprisonment and a fine of 15 million won in the first trial, but the sentence was suspended.

Gwangsan-gu is currently proceeding with the selection process for the next treasury operating institution ahead of the contract expiration at the end of this year.
