[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital announced on the 28th that it has been re-designated as the Regional Emergency Medical Center for the southeastern area of Seoul. Through this re-designation, it will continue to serve as the regional emergency medical center until 2025.
Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital received favorable evaluations in on-site assessments, emergency patient treatment performance, and operational plan evaluations. Additionally, it was recognized for various efforts including ▲ securing specialist personnel for rapid emergency treatment ▲ securing dedicated emergency beds and operating rooms ▲ expanding emergency medical equipment.
Along with this, the hospital is strengthening disaster response systems such as operating the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) and conducting regular disaster drills, as well as education within the southeastern Seoul region for on-site emergency medical workers, including CPR rescue and emergency treatment training.
Hospital Director Kim Sung-wan stated, “We will not be satisfied with the re-designation and will continue to improve and expand any lacking areas to devote all our efforts to emergency patient care in the southeastern region.”
Since being designated as a regional emergency medical center in 2009, Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital has provided high-level emergency medical services within its treatment area. It has also demonstrated excellent performance in treatment, education, and research fields, being selected as a top-tier emergency medical institution for two consecutive years starting in 2015.
Since April, it has been designated as the final emergency medical treatment institution responsible for medical care in southeastern Seoul, including Kangdong, Songpa, Gangnam, Seocho, Seongdong, Gwangjin, as well as Hanam, Guri, and Yangpyeong, treating about 3,000 emergency patients monthly. It serves as the final treatment institution for severe emergency conditions such as acute myocardial infarction, severe cerebral infarction and hemorrhage, severe trauma, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, pulmonary embolism, aortic rupture and dissection, and sepsis.
