[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The People Power Party's Central Committee Gyeongnam Federation has stepped forward to support the administrative integration plan for Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam proposed by Governor Park Wansu of Gyeongnam Province.
On the 28th, the Gyeongnam Federation held a press conference in front of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council and declared, "We support the administrative integration plan for the practical benefits of Gyeongnam residents and future generations."
They stated, "We welcome Governor Park's swift decision to move toward an 8 million population city that can compete with the metropolitan area through administrative integration, rather than the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam special union, which is expected to cause administrative and budget waste and is merely a superficial megacity."
They added, "The Democratic Party insists on starting with the special union, where peripheral areas like Western Gyeongnam are obviously going to be neglected," and "it is a pretty packaging for their own interests with no substance, a fact even a child in Samcheok would know," they criticized.
The federation said, "To respond to the Democratic Party Gyeongnam Provincial Party, we will communicate with various party member councils within the province, the Central Committee Gyeongnam branch, support groups, and various committees of the Gyeongnam Provincial Party to launch a large-scale campaign promoting administrative integration."
