[Asia Economy Reporter Eunju Lee] On the 28th, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation held the 'Happy Expectation Direct Market' at the parking lot of its headquarters building located in Jung-gu, Seoul, to revitalize the agricultural and fishing village economy.
Thirteen participants, including agricultural and fishing villages and social enterprises from across the country facing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and rising fertilizer prices, took part in the market. The participating companies promoted and sold local agricultural and marine products and specialties, while fostering coexistence and cooperation with socially vulnerable groups.
Yoon Chayong, Acting President of KDIC, purchased items at the market and said, "I hope this market can contribute even a little to revitalizing the agricultural and fishing village economy, which has been depressed due to COVID-19 and flood damage."
A KDIC official stated, "At this event, the 'Happy Expectation Fund,' created from donations by executives and employees, was used to purchase agricultural products from the market, and 'Happy Expectation Packages' were donated to more than 30 welfare facilities."
