60s Woman Suspected of Killing Sister for Forcing Daughter into Shamanism Sent to Prosecution


[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 60s has been handed over to the prosecution on suspicion of assaulting his older sister to death for allegedly forcing her to become a shaman.


On the 28th, the Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced that it had sent Mr. A, a man in his 60s suspected of murder, to the prosecution under detention the day before. Mr. A is accused of assaulting his older sister, who was a shaman, with a blunt weapon at a house in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, around midnight on the 23rd, causing her to die from excessive bleeding.


About nine hours after the crime, at around 10 a.m. on the same day, Mr. A himself reported to the fire department that the victim was not breathing. Subsequently, the police who responded to the call arrested Mr. A on suspicion of murder at around 11 a.m.
