[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Ottogi announced on the 28th that it has relaunched its vegan ramen "Chaehwang," made from 100% pure plant-based ingredients.
In this renewal, Chaehwang improved the broth flavor and noodle texture to meet consumer needs. The clean and mild broth flavor preferred by consumers was enhanced, and the chewiness of the noodles was made to last longer. In particular, since many consumers add garlic and chili to Chaehwang, the amounts of garlic and chili were increased to add a refreshing and spicy taste.
With this renewal, Chaehwang has become part of the "Hello Veggie" product line. Hello Veggie is a vegan specialty brand launched by Ottogi last May, offering convenient meals such as "Vegetable-filled Curry and Jjajang." Ottogi plans to expand the Hello Veggie lineup and continuously introduce vegan products through this renewal.
An Ottogi official said, "With the rapid spread of vegetarian culture, we have newly introduced Chaehwang, renewed in taste and texture to suit consumer preferences," adding, "We will continue to offer vegetarian food that all generations can enjoy without burden through vegan specialty brands like Hello Veggie."
Launched in 2019, Chaehwang is a vegetable ramen that received vegan certification from the Vegan Society in the UK and features a refreshing broth made from 10 kinds of vegetables including mushrooms, radish, and onions. The noodles contain potato starch and vegetable extracts, boasting a soft and clean taste. The soup includes shiitake mushrooms and doenjang (fermented soybean paste) to enhance umami, and also contains six types of rich dried vegetables such as dried cabbage, dried bok choy, dried shiitake mushrooms, shredded carrots, dried green onions, and dried chili peppers.
