Hankook Tire Strengthens SUV Market Strategy with 'Dynapro'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) is strengthening its SUV market strategy based on a solid product lineup under the SUV-exclusive ‘Dynapro’ brand.

According to Hankook Tire on the 28th, Dynapro is an SUV-exclusive tire with a wide range of segments from high-speed driving to rugged off-road. It satisfies diverse customer needs through on-road models ▲Dynapro HPX ▲Dynapro HL3 ▲Dynapro HP2, on-/off-road Dynapro AT2, and off-road Dynapro MT2.

In particular, the recently launched premium comfort tire for SUVs, ‘Dynapro HPX,’ tailored to the needs of premium SUV customers, has signaled a major shift since its release. The Dynapro HPX is available in a wide lineup from 17 inches to 22 inches, fitting various SUVs from compact to large-sized vehicles.

As the first premium segment product introduced under the ‘Dynapro’ brand, it offers the best handling, comfortable ride, and quietness. Developed as an all-season tire suited to domestic road conditions, it delivers comfortable and stable driving performance on dry, wet, and snowy surfaces.

Notably, despite being a premium product, it boasts unprecedented mileage performance, offering the longest lifespan among Hankook Tire’s existing SUV products. Hankook Tire stated that by applying a new all-season compound with enhanced wear resistance and increasing the tire contact area with the ground, the lifespan has been extended by more than 20% compared to its previous products.

This product optimizes pattern rigidity by widening the tread edge blocks and improves snow grip through 3D Grip Control Sipe technology, achieving steering stability, excellent grip, and handling. Additionally, it incorporates new noise reduction technology and an optimal pitch arrangement to suppress specific frequencies of noise generated during driving, enhancing ride comfort and quietness.

Another on-road model, ‘Dynapro HL3,’ features an asymmetric pattern design that provides balanced driving performance on both dry and wet surfaces. The ‘Dynapro HP2’ offers quietness and a comfortable ride. It is characterized by a high-strength polyester carcass (tire skeleton) that delivers optimal steering stability and excellent handling performance throughout all seasons.

The on-/off-road ‘Dynapro AT2’ is an SUV tire that delivers optimal performance on various surfaces. It offers quietness and a comfortable ride on paved roads and strong driving force on unpaved roads, ensuring stable driving performance. It also carries the 3PMSF certification, which certifies snow braking performance, providing excellent performance in winter.

In May, the Volkswagen ‘ID.4 GTX’ equipped with ‘Dynapro AT2’ participated in an electric vehicle project driving on Bolivia’s dormant volcano Uturuncu. Achieving the highest performance at extreme altitudes, it reached an elevation of 5,816 meters above sea level, setting a new Guinness World Record for the highest altitude electric vehicle drive.

The off-road tire ‘Dynapro MT2’ delivers outstanding grip and excellent driving force, powerfully conquering steep and rugged terrain with top performance. Its optimized tread block design provides stable ride comfort not only off-road but also on-road. The ‘Dynapro MT2,’ along with the ‘Dynapro AT2,’ won the ‘Red Dot Design Award 2020’ in the product design category in Germany, proving its world-class innovative design philosophy.
