SKT 'NUGU Smart Home' Now Displays CU Promotion Information

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] SK Telecom announced on the 28th that it has signed a smart home partner service business agreement with BGF Retail.

Through this agreement, SKT and BGF Retail will provide information on more than 16,000 CU stores to residents using the NUGU Smart Home app.

Residents using SKT NUGU Smart Home can conveniently check the address, phone number, and promotion information of CU convenience stores around their residential complex in the ‘Neighborhood Store Community’ section of the NUGU Smart Home app. They can also easily take advantage of CU convenience stores’ time sales, 1+1 events, and promotions through notifications or announcements on the NUGU Smart Home app.

Since 2015, SKT launched the NUGU Smart Home service, the first in Korea to remotely monitor and control devices within residential spaces via an app. It has developed the service to enable control of built-in lighting and heating devices integrated with home networks in apartment complexes.

Additionally, to provide new value throughout apartment living, SKT has introduced various new features to enhance convenience for residents of both newly built and existing apartment complexes. Through this, residents can use various functions such as ▲automatic access to shared entrance doors ▲parking location confirmation ▲unmanned parcel arrival notifications ▲complex voting ▲shared facility reservations ▲nearby store discount information via the AI-based NUGU Smart Home app.

Currently, SKT NUGU Smart Home provides services to 500,000 households in about 600 apartment complexes nationwide, covering most large-scale newly built apartment complexes.

Through this business agreement with BGF Retail, the largest operator in the domestic convenience store industry, the service is expected to evolve into an upgraded community-based platform service. As part of this cooperation, both companies will jointly strive to enhance customer value by supporting practical shopping tailored to consumer lifestyles, such as linking CU convenience store benefits for NUGU Smart Home app users.

Yoon Hyun-sang, Head of Product A, said, “SKT has supported customers’ innovative lifestyles through AI-based smart home services,” adding, “We will create Korea’s leading apartment complex platform that closely connects community services with various external lifestyle services in customers’ daily lives.”
