[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok visited the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office for the first time since his inauguration and urged, "Please respond strictly to financial crimes such as fund fraud and jeonse fraud."

On the 21st at 4 p.m., Prosecutor General Lee visited the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office and explained the reason for his visit, saying, "The Southern District Prosecutors' Office is a frontline agency focusing on investigating financial crimes" and "It plays the role of a guardian protecting the order of the market economy."

This is the first frontline agency visit by Prosecutor General Lee since his inauguration on the 16th. The Southern District Prosecutors' Office, where the Joint Investigation Team for Financial and Securities Crimes (Joint Investigation Team) is established, is an institution that intensively investigates economic crimes such as securities crimes.

Prosecutor General Lee emphasized, "The media often refers to the Southern District Prosecutors' Office as the 'Yeouido Grim Reaper,' but it is a frontline soldier fighting against criminals who undermine the capital market," and added, "I believe it will be a guardian angel for ordinary citizens and retail investors investing in the Yeouido securities market."

Meanwhile, regarding the ongoing forced investigation by the prosecution into Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, immediately after his inauguration, Prosecutor General Lee drew a line, saying it is just the same policy as before. He said, "This is a case that has already been under investigation since last year, or even earlier, so there is no particular reason to think that yesterday, today, or tomorrow will be different," and added, "We are investigating under the same policy and stance."
