[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Dong-joo] On the 27th, Wi Seong-gon, the Chief Policy Deputy Representative of the Democratic Party of Korea, along with floor spokespersons Lee Su-jin and Oh Young-hwan, submitted a motion to dismiss Foreign Minister Park Jin to the National Assembly's Legislative Affairs Office.

Wi Seong-rak, the Chief Deputy Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "We decided to submit a motion to dismiss Foreign Minister Park Jin to hold him accountable for President Yoon Seok-yeol's 'diplomatic disaster,'" adding, "This motion to dismiss was unanimously approved as the party's official stance by all 169 Democratic Party members, and it is expected to pass the plenary session on the 29th."

The motion to dismiss Minister Park Jin, submitted by the Democratic Party on this day, requires Speaker Kim Jin-pyo to report the matter at the first plenary session immediately after the proposal, and from that time, a secret ballot vote must be conducted within 72 hours after 24 hours have passed. According to the National Assembly Act, a motion to dismiss a cabinet member requires the consent of at least one-third of the total members of the National Assembly to propose, and a majority of the total members to pass. With the Democratic Party's 169 seats, both proposal and passage are comfortably possible. If the motion to dismiss is passed, President Yoon Seok-yeol may exercise his veto power.
