[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 27th, President Yoon Seok-yeol visited a daycare center in Sejong and expressed his commitment to doing his best to support the healthy growth of children and alleviate the childcare burden on families.

After presiding over the Cabinet meeting at the Government Complex Sejong in the morning, President Yoon visited the nearby Ainuri Daycare Center, observed the childcare program, and held a meeting with parents, staff, and experts, the presidential office announced in a press release.

The daycare center visited by President Yoon is a public daycare center established by Sejong City and operated under consignment by Daeduk College. Currently, about 90 infants and toddlers are enrolled.

At the meeting, President Yoon emphasized that nurturing each child at the daycare center well is the most precious task. He added that in the face of the low birthrate crisis, the government has selected the introduction of parental benefits, improvement of childcare staff treatment, and enhancement of daycare center environments as national policy tasks, and pledged to do its best to support the healthy growth of children and reduce the childcare burden on families.

President Yoon also mentioned the 'Story Grandmother' program he observed that day and urged continuous discovery and improvement of job models that can provide opportunities for social participation to senior citizens.

The Story Grandmother program involves elderly women who have completed related training courses telling traditional stories to children at daycare centers and kindergartens, supported by the government.

The presidential office explained, "Following the discussion on 'Population Structure Changes and Responses' at the Sejong Cabinet meeting, this visit to the childcare sites for our children who will lead the future was to listen to voices from the field and to encourage the efforts of parents and staff as part of a public welfare field visit."
