[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Mercedes-Benz Korea launched the new EQE, a mid-to-large electric sedan, in the domestic market on the 27th.
The new car is the second model developed based on the company's large electric vehicle dedicated architecture EVA2, following the new EQS electric sedan from the same brand. The company explained that it is the first electric vehicle among the high-priced imported mid-to-large sedan models sold domestically.
The model being launched this time is the EQE 350+. It is equipped with an 88.89 kW battery, enabling a maximum driving range of 471 km on a single charge. The front is low and slim, and the side has a coupe-style silhouette. The wheelbase is 3120 mm, which is 180 mm longer than the 10th generation E-Class. The domestically released model comes standard with 20-inch 5-twin spoke lightweight alloy wheels and digital light boasting a resolution of over 2.6 million pixels. The interior features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a vertical 12.8-inch OLED touch display in the center.
The latest MBUX infotainment system is installed. The Zero-Layer function places the most important functions on an easily accessible screen according to the situation, without the user having to navigate detailed menus or use voice commands. Additionally, electric vehicle-specific Electric Intelligence Navigation is applied. It calculates the energy required for driving and guides the optimal route by considering terrain, surrounding temperature, speed, and more.
The vehicle is equipped with 15 speakers and a 710W output Burmester surround sound system. There is also a unique electric vehicle sound created by experts including physicists and acoustic designers. A HEPA filter air purification package is standard, and for the first time among Mercedes-Benz models released domestically, the center display supports mini-games.
The maximum output is 215 kW, and torque is 565 Nm. The battery management software developed in-house keeps the energy management system up to date through over-the-air (OTA) updates. The battery is integrated with an intelligent thermal management system that maintains an optimal temperature for charging by activating the cooling circuit and PTC booster heat when navigation is active. It supports fast charging with a maximum output of 170 kW and slow charging with an output of 8.8 kW. Fast charging from 10% to 80% battery capacity takes about 32 minutes.
Three-stage regenerative braking modes can be adjusted using shift paddles. Four driving modes are provided, including D-Auto, which automatically sets regenerative braking. The battery comes with a free warranty for up to 10 years or 250,000 km (whichever comes first). The driving assistance system is at the same level as the S-Class. Additionally, augmented reality navigation, head-up display, active parking assist, and keyless-go package are standard. The company plans to release high-performance and all-wheel-drive models domestically in the future. The price is 101.6 million KRW (including VAT).
