Gyeonggawon Completes Training for Science and Engineering Specialized Technical Personnel

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency has completed its specialized technical training project for STEM fields.

The agency announced on the 27th that it has completed specialized education for a total of 80 core talents in STEM fields through the 'Specialized Technical Training Project for STEM Fields,' conducted in five sessions since last April.

The Specialized Technical Training Project for STEM Fields is a human resource development initiative led by the Ministry of Science and ICT to resolve the supply-demand imbalance between workforce needs in the industrial field and unemployed STEM graduates, and to actively address youth unemployment issues.

The agency provided not only four months of specialized education to a total of 80 trainees?47 participants in three sessions of the Big Data Analysis course and 33 participants in two sessions of the Mechanical Design course?but also linked them with employment opportunities at small and medium-sized enterprises in Gyeonggi-do and matched them with corporate training programs.

Yoo Seung-kyung, director of the agency, stated, "Recently, a paradigm shift has arrived across society, including digital transformation and eco-friendly management," adding, "Going forward, through educational projects, the agency will strive to cultivate specialized technical personnel suitable for the new era desired by companies, contributing both to alleviating manpower shortages in SMEs and reducing youth unemployment rates."
