"See Weather, Traffic, and Schedule at Once on TV When You Open the 'LG ThinQ' App" LG Electronics has added a "Morning Briefing" service to its smart home platform app, "LG ThinQ," allowing users to check daily information at a glance. When the service is activated in the app, the LG Smart TV automatically turns on, displaying weather, traffic, schedules, memos, vehicle information, and more?all on a single screen as preset by the user.

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] LG Electronics announced on the 27th that it has added a 'Morning Briefing' service to its smart home platform 'LG ThinQ' app, allowing users to view key daily information such as weather at a glance on the LG Smart TV screen.

When the Morning Briefing service is launched in the LG ThinQ app, the LG Smart TV automatically turns on. Information such as weather, traffic, schedule, memos, and vehicle details, pre-set by the customer, are all displayed on one screen. Notification settings are also available. It can be used before commuting or going to school, or at wake-up time. The service is supported on LG Smart TVs released since 2018 (models with webOS operating system version 4.0 or higher).

By registering a desired area in the service, users can check real-time weather information. Setting frequently used departure and arrival locations provides traffic information based on the 'T map' service, including estimated travel time, fastest routes, and distance. The service is linked with Google Calendar, sharing schedules entered by customers and displaying memos created in third-party apps.

It is also connected with Hyundai Motor and Kia's connected car services, allowing users to check information such as the parking location, drivable distance, and accumulated mileage of registered vehicles. LG Electronics and Hyundai Motor and Kia plan to showcase differentiated customer experiences that transcend the boundaries between home and vehicle based on their strategic partnership.

LG Electronics plans to operate the Morning Briefing as a beta service for the time being. They will inspect the program and continuously improve the service's completeness by collecting user feedback to provide an innovative customer experience. The service will first be introduced for one month to some LG ThinQ app users who own LG Smart TVs, then gradually expanded to more users.

Lee Geon-woo, Head of ThinQ Platform Service Planning at LG Electronics' Platform Business Center, said, "Through the LG ThinQ app, we will continue to add home lifestyle-related services such as Morning Briefing to provide differentiated customer experiences so that customers can enjoy their daily lives more conveniently and smartly."

Meanwhile, LG Electronics is increasing the number of IoT (Internet of Things) devices linked to the LG ThinQ app to build a more convenient smart home. Various functions that allow more effective use of home appliances and IoT devices are being enhanced.

The LG ThinQ app currently supports IoT devices such as Apple HomeKit, Aqara, and Hejhome, enabling customers to enjoy a more convenient daily life. Recently, the 'Recommended Mode' feature, which allows multiple products to be controlled at once, has been expanded, and the 'Automation' feature, which operates home appliances and IoT devices according to set conditions, has been further strengthened.

Above all, LG Electronics is actively participating in the 'Hyper-Connectivity of Home Appliances' initiative. Last month, it was selected as the chair company of the global standards alliance CSA (Connectivity Standards Alliance). It is actively involved in the development and standardization of 'Matter,' an IP-based smart home communication standard technology led by CSA.

LG Electronics is also a member of the HCA, a consortium formed by 13 global home appliance companies including Samsung Electronics, Haier, and Electrolux to expand the smart home ecosystem.
