Capacity 360ml, Price 3000 KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] CU announced on the 27th that it will launch a small-sized wine in a soju bottle called ‘Wine Half Bottle Casso’ targeting single drinkers on the 28th.
Wine Half Bottle is a product developed as a single-serving daily wine concept that can be enjoyed lightly without the burden of price and drinking volume, mainly for single drinkers who enjoy wine alone at home. While the average volume of a regular wine bottle is 750ml, Wine Half Bottle is 360ml and priced at 3,000 won.
The variety of Wine Half Bottle is Cabernet Sauvignon red wine produced in Central Valley, Chile, which is famous as a representative wine region. The vintage is 2021, and the alcohol content is 13%. It features rich fruity aroma, moderate acidity and tannins, and the flavor of oak aging, delivering the best taste and body. It pairs best with meat dishes and especially goes well with Korean food seasoned with spicy gochujang.
CU is holding a discount event until next month where four bottles of Wine Half Bottle are sold for 11,000 won. At 2,750 won per bottle, it is the lowest price among wines currently sold at CU. Since the discount is applied simultaneously with the existing imported beer four-can promotion, it can also be purchased bundled with imported beer.
A BGF Retail official said, “Convenience stores are alcohol consumption channels where demand from single-person households and single drinkers is concentrated. Through Wine Half Bottle, which breaks the existing mold by changing volume and packaging, we can provide new fun and convenience,” adding, “We will continue to introduce differentiated products that can satisfy customers’ hidden needs.”
