Gwangju University, which operates sports teams in three disciplines and leads in nurturing outstanding athletes, has secured qualification to participate in the National Sports Festival in all categories.
First, the soccer team will play its first university division match on the 7th against the winner between Jeonnam Science College and Daegu Suseong College.
Gwangju University, which claimed the throne at the Chuncheon University Soccer Federation Tournament in February this year to determine the strongest university soccer team nationwide, winning for the second consecutive year, has previously earned bronze medals in 2012 and 2014, a silver medal in 2015, and a bronze medal in 2017 at the National Sports Festival.
Next, on the 8th, taekwondo athlete Oh Chaeyoon (1st year) will compete in the women's university division sparring category under 49kg, facing Daegu representative Kim Nayeon.
Oh Chaeyoon won a bronze medal at the 57th Presidential National Team Taekwondo Competition and a silver medal at the 21st Ministry of Gender Equality and Family National Women's Taekwondo Competition this year.
The basketball team will have its first match in the women's general division against Ulsan University on the 10th.
Gwangju University, which recorded runner-up at the 38th MBC Cup National University Basketball Sangju Tournament and the 2022 KUSF University Basketball U-League Championship Finals, met Ulsan University three times this season and won all matches. The Gwangju University basketball team earned bronze medals at the 94th and 96th National Sports Festivals.
