Flying Kick at NFL Stadium! ... Dongmyeong University Demonstrates Taekwondo Locally in the USA

Dongmyung University, Angels Peace Art Troupe, and the American Martial Arts Academy MBA Demonstration Team are taking a group commemorative photo.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Dooyul] A Taekwondo demonstration was held during an American professional football league (NFL) game in Washington DC.

On the 25th, during the halftime show of the game between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles at the Commanders' home stadium, Dongmyung University, Angels Peace Arts Group, and the MBA Martial Arts Academy demonstration team performed a joint 5-minute show.

The event was held by invitation from the NFL, one of the four major sports leagues in the United States. The demonstration team showcased high-level breaking techniques on the football field, followed by a line formation performing poomsae demonstrations.

MBA is a martial arts academy in the U.S. with over 150 dojangs, led by Director Choi Seung-min, a graduate of Dongmyung University.

Dongmyung University students will stay in the U.S. until October 3rd, performing demonstrations to promote Taekwondo at landmarks such as the plaza in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC and at elementary schools. Dongmyung University's character, ‘Ttuing Siblings,’ will also participate with a Do-ing dance performance.

In March 2023, they are scheduled to be invited to perform demonstrations at an NBA game as well.

Park Joo-eun, a senior in the Military Science Department at Dongmyung University, said, “We will spread the value of Do-ing education?challenge, experience, practice?along with K Taekwondo, K-POP, and K cultural arts sports worldwide,” adding, “Do-ing Dongmyung University will greatly enhance the prestige of both the university and the Republic of Korea.”

In August, Do-ing President Jeon Ho-hwan appointed Kim Il-chul, chairman of the Special Committee for attracting the World Taekwondo Headquarters Center, as an endowed professor to strengthen sports cultural arts education.
