Appointment and Operation of 35 Resident Jury Members to Ensure Fairness and Transparency of Pledges
Final Confirmation of 41 Pledge Projects in 6 Major Areas by the End of October After 3 Meetings
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City, is listening to residents' voices to finalize the Happy Buk-gu pledge projects that everyone can enjoy in the 8th term of the elected government.
On the 26th, Buk-gu announced that it will appoint and operate 35 members of the 'Resident Jury Panel' who will directly participate in the process of establishing and evaluating the implementation plan for the mayor's pledge projects in the 8th term and prepare alternatives.
The composition of the Resident Jury Panel was overseen by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters, a non-profit organization, to ensure fairness and transparency. Thirty-five members were finally selected considering region, gender, and age through ARS and telephone interviews targeting Buk-gu residents aged 18 and over.
The first meeting was held on the 23rd, where Kim Ki-hong, head of the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters, provided capacity-building training, education on the activities and roles of the Resident Jury Panel, subgroup formation, and subgroup discussions.
Buk-gu plans to hold two more Resident Jury Panel meetings on the 7th and 14th of next month to review the appropriateness and improvement measures of 41 pledge projects across six major sectors in the 8th term and finalize them by the end of October.
Mayor Moon In said, "The pledge projects for the 8th term are core projects that will lead Buk-gu's new leap forward over the next four years. From the process of establishing the implementation plan, residents participate to ensure fairness, and we will do our best to actively reflect the opinions presented by the Resident Jury Panel so that the pledge projects can be carried out without any setbacks."
