Fire at Daejeon Hyundai Outlet, 2 Dead and 1 Seriously Injured

On the morning of the 26th, a fire broke out at a large outlet in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, and fire trucks gathered in the parking lot in front of the outlet building.

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The fire at Daejeon Hyundai Premium Outlet resulted in 2 deaths and 1 person seriously injured, causing casualties.

According to Yuseong Fire Station on the 26th, the fire broke out around 7:45 a.m. at the underground parking lot of Hyundai Outlet located in Yongsan-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.

At the scene, a man in his 50s and a man in his 30s were found seriously injured due to the fire and were transported to the hospital but ultimately passed away. Additionally, a man in his 40s was seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Besides these casualties, the fire authorities explained that a search operation is underway following a report from an on-site official that four staff members, including logistics team employees, are currently unreachable.

The fire authorities issued a level 2 response after receiving the fire report, deploying about 120 personnel including firefighters and around 40 firefighting vehicles to the scene, and are currently conducting rescue operations while removing smoke from the underground parking lot.

A Yuseong Fire Station official stated, “Most of the smoke in the eastern section of the underground parking lot has been cleared, but smoke remains in the western section, so efforts are focused on removing the smoke,” adding, “The rescue team is currently conducting rescue operations by dividing the underground parking lot into east and west sections.”
