[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Seventy-two Vietnamese nationals were arrested for distributing and using drugs at foreigner-only clubs and karaoke bars in the Busan and Gyeongnam areas.
According to the Busan Police Agency on the 26th, five Vietnamese individuals were arrested and detained on July 3 and September 17 for selling drugs such as ecstasy and ketamine along with alcohol at foreigner-only clubs.
The group purchased drugs via SNS from March to September, recruited participants for drug parties, and sold drugs at foreigner-only clubs.
The police conducted a joint crackdown with the Busan Immigration Office and Foreigners Affairs, arresting 30 drug users and 37 illegal immigrants, and handed over 72 suspects, including five drug dealers, to the Busan Immigration Office and Foreigners Affairs.
Most of those arrested were daily laborers and language trainees, and the Busan Immigration Office and Foreigners Affairs deported all of them and imposed permanent entry bans on everyone.
The police also booked two foreigner-only entertainment business owners who knowingly provided venues for drug use on charges of aiding and abetting crimes.
A police official said, “We are tracking foreigners who used drugs at the same locations by analyzing on-site evidence,” adding, “We will expand investigations to smugglers and shipping vessels by tracing drug smuggling routes.”
