[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Regarding North Korea's ballistic missile launch on the 25th, the Democratic Party of Korea strongly condemned it, stating that it "is provoking a crisis for peace on the Korean Peninsula." At the same time, they urged the Yoon Seok-yeol administration to find ways to engage in dialogue with North Korea.

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, stated at the on-site Supreme Council meeting held at Gyeonggi Provincial Office on the same day, "We deeply regret this and strongly condemn it."

He said, "The implication is that nuclear weapons could be used for preemptive strikes," adding, "North Korea's missile launch is a very dangerous act that provokes a crisis for peace on the Korean Peninsula."

He continued, "However, it is also not right to neglect the escalating conflicts, divisions, and confrontations," and said, "Since diplomacy involves dialogue even during wartime, we must find ways, communicate, engage in dialogue, and cooperate by any means to create a path toward peace."

He also urged the government, saying, "Because peace on the Korean Peninsula is in a very critical situation, I hope the Yoon administration will develop and implement bold military and political solutions."

Park Hong-geun, floor leader of the party, also said at the meeting, "This is the fifth missile launch since the Yoon administration took office," adding, "Moreover, it is said that a strategic weapons test is imminent right after the nuclear test."

Park pointed out, "North Korea is legally institutionalizing the use of nuclear weapons internally and continuing dangerously reckless military provocations externally, raising the crisis on the Korean Peninsula day by day," and said, "North Korea must immediately stop the nuclear test provocations that are driving the peninsula into crisis." He added, "Military provocations only harm relations with neighboring countries and will not achieve anything North Korea desires."

He urged the government, saying, "There are concerns that the Yoon administration is repeating the failed North Korea policies of the MB administration, thereby greatly increasing security risks," and stated, "While thoroughly responding to North Korea's provocations, the door to dialogue must also be kept open."
