"Hwalan" is a noir drama depicting the story of a boy named Yeon-gyu who wants to escape from a hellish reality and meets the organization's middle boss Chigeon, leading him into a precarious world.
Hong Sa-bin, a promising young actor, was cast as the 18-year-old Yeon-gyu, who jumps into the rough adult world to escape a miserable and bleak reality. Song Joong-ki plays Chigeon, the organization's middle boss who trusts and guides Yeon-gyu. Kim Hyung-seo, a singer known as BIBI, who passed a highly competitive audition, was cast as Ha-yan, Yeon-gyu's younger sister who tries not to waver in the face of harsh reality.
