[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] The People Power Party announced on the 25th the top 10 bills to be focused on during this regular session of the National Assembly to revive people’s livelihoods.
Seong Il-jong, the Policy Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, held a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day and announced the "Top 10 Priority Bills for the Regular Session of the National Assembly for Accompanying the Vulnerable, Public Safety, and Future Leap."
For accompanying the vulnerable, the bills include "Livable Rental Housing (Amendment to the Long-term Public Rental Housing Act)," "Delivery Payment Linkage System (Amendment to the Act on Promotion of Mutual Cooperation between Large and Small-Medium Enterprises)," and "Prosperous Rural Communities Together (Amendment to the Rural Space Restructuring and Regeneration Support Act)."
For public safety and livelihoods, the bills include "Reducing Childcare Burden (Amendment to the Child Allowance Act)," "Punishment for Stalking Crimes (Amendment to the Stalking Crime Punishment Act)," "Eradication of Voice Phishing (Amendment to the Special Act on Prevention of Telecommunications Financial Fraud Damage)," "Special Act on New Towns (Amendment to the Special Act on Regeneration Support for Aged New Towns)," and "Prevention and Response to Various Disasters (Act on the Management of Disaster Management Resources)."
For future leap, the bills include "Special Act on Semiconductors (Amendment to the Special Measures Act to Strengthen Competitiveness of National Advanced Strategic Industries)" and "Fostering Future Talent (Amendments to the Special Account Act for Support of Higher and Lifelong Education, the Local Education Finance Grant Act, and the National Finance Act)."
Chairman Seong said, "Since the launch of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, the People Power Party has made it a top priority to promote policies for the vulnerable, livelihoods, and the future, and has worked hard for the past five months to provide legislative support. This regular session of the National Assembly is an important turning point to lay the foundation for Korea’s re-leap based on recovery from COVID-19 over the past three years, overcoming the Moon Jae-in administration’s policy failures, and preparing for the future based on the Yoon Seok-yeol administration’s national agenda."
He added, "As the ruling party, we will thoroughly respond to the Democratic Party’s populist legislative agenda based on party interests rather than the recovery of the Republic of Korea and the people’s livelihoods."
