Suwon City Donates 25 Million KRW in Typhoon Relief Funds to Sister City Pohang

[Asia Economy (Pohang) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Public officials in Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, have delivered donations to Pohang City, Gyeongbuk Province, to aid typhoon damage relief.

On the 25th, Suwon City announced that Mayor Lee Jae-jun visited Pohang City Hall on the 23rd and handed over 25 million KRW in 'Typhoon Damage Relief Donations' collected by Suwon City public officials to Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang.

Earlier, Suwon City voluntarily launched a fundraising campaign after the sister city Pohang suffered significant damage from Typhoon Hinnamnor.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "I hope the donations sincerely collected by Suwon City public officials will help even a little in restoring the damage in Pohang City."

Mayor Lee Kang-deok of Pohang expressed gratitude to the public officials of Suwon City.

On September 5-6, heavy rains caused by Typhoon Hinnamnor resulted in extensive damage across Pohang. Rivers overflowed, and roads, houses, and commercial buildings were flooded. The government declared Pohang a special disaster area on September 7.

Since establishing a sister city relationship with Pohang in 2009, Suwon City has maintained a friendly relationship by dispatching delegations annually to the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival and the Pohang International Fireworks Festival.

When an earthquake struck Pohang in 2017, Suwon City dispatched the 'Love Meal Truck' volunteer team and delivered 25 million KRW in donations collected by public officials.
