[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Sungkyunkwan University announced on the 25th that it will hold an online international seminar on the 30th under the theme of ‘SKKU Global·Innovative Classes.’
This seminar will discuss the direction university classes should take in the new normal era under the theme ‘How will university classes change after the pandemic?’ A representative example is the global·innovative classes developed by Sungkyunkwan University to overcome the confusion in university class operations caused by the pandemic situation. In global·innovative classes, students engage in student-centered activities using online global content provided by MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), lectures by renowned foreign university scholars, various learning materials, and offline classroom discussions.
The seminar will be hosted by Professor Park Jun-hyun, Director of the Educational Development Center at Sungkyunkwan University, and will feature presentations and Q&A sessions with Professor Kim Jeong-eun from Arizona State University in the U.S., Professor Lim Si-geun from the Department of Forensic Science at Sungkyunkwan University, Professor Kim Bo-seong from the University of British Columbia in Canada, and Dr. Lee Sang-eun from the Educational Development Center at Sungkyunkwan University.
The first presenter, Professor Kim Jeong-eun, will speak on the topic ‘Class Innovation in the Post-Corona Era: Educational Accessibility and Student Success Using Educational Technology.’ Following this, Professor Lim Si-geun will present ‘Global Classes Catching Four Rabbits,’ Professor Kim Bo-seong will discuss ‘Teaching and Learning Support and Future Trends at the University of British Columbia in the COVID-19 Era,’ and Dr. Lee Sang-eun will present ‘From Flipped-class Three Courses to 623 Global·Innovative Classes ? A 9-Year Outcome Report.’
Jo Jun-mo, Vice President of the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus at Sungkyunkwan University, said, “Global·Innovative Classes are expected to become the new normal for university classes after the pandemic as a representative model of our university’s online-offline hybrid educational innovation.” He added, “Through this discussion, we will expand the educational horizon globally for students and create a future university class model that actively utilizes edutech technology.”
