[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that it participated in the "Tourism Expo Japan 2022" held at the Tokyo Big Sight Convention Center in Japan from the 22nd to the 25th, conducting marketing activities to attract Japanese tourists.
Tourism Expo Japan, held face-to-face for the first time in three years since COVID-19, is the world's largest travel fair with participants including travel industry professionals and general visitors from about 70 countries across Asia, the Americas, and Europe. Approximately 150,000 people visited this year's four-day event.
The corporation participated in the expo and operated consultation and promotional booths based on the strategy of "early normalization of Incheon Airport's air travel demand through attracting Japanese visitors," aiming to maximize the expected increase in air routes between Korea and Japan following the full lifting of Japan's visa-free individual travel restrictions starting next month on the 11th.
Utilizing this opportunity, the corporation actively conducted marketing activities to attract travel demand to Korea by inducing the development of travel products for visits and transit through meetings with 25 travel industry stakeholders, including local travel agencies and media companies.
Kim Beom-ho, Head of Future Business Division at Incheon International Airport Corporation, emphasized, "Ahead of the resumption of visa-free independent travel to Japan, the corporation plans to closely cooperate with related organizations and airlines to promote the early recovery of foreign visitors and transit passenger demand, faithfully fulfilling Incheon Airport's role as a hub airport."
