Gwangjin-gu Provides Outing Assistance, Temporary Home Care, Meal Support, and Short-Term Facility Admission for Health-Vulnerable Individuals Aged 14+ Within 130% Median Income and Seniors Aged 65+ Living Alone
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Especially these days with large temperature differences between day and night, a 'flu epidemic advisory' has been issued, raising concerns about a 'twindemic' where COVID-19 and the flu spread simultaneously.
In response, Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyungho) will provide a 'pre- and post-vaccination care service' starting October 7 for health-vulnerable groups who have received flu vaccinations.
This service, linked with the 'Gwangjin-type Plus Care SOS Project,' includes ▲support for accompanying outings for vaccination ▲home visits after vaccination to check health, provide care, and organize living conditions (temporary home care service) ▲meal support ▲housing convenience ▲short-term facility admission ▲welfare checks, and is provided through the Care SOS Center.
The target beneficiaries are health-vulnerable individuals aged 14 and older who need care due to the absence of family, and elderly people aged 65 and older living alone. However, the household income must be within 130% of the median income, and services are provided after comprehensively considering health conditions such as underlying diseases and living circumstances.
Residents who wish to receive the service can apply directly at the Care SOS Center of their local community service center. Residents who find it difficult to visit the community center can apply by phone, and a care manager will visit their home to verify eligibility before providing the service.
The district initiated this project as a proactive response to fill gaps in care demand, prevent vaccination side effects through pre- and post-vaccination monitoring, and respond quickly in emergencies.
Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “This service was provided so that health-vulnerable residents can receive flu vaccinations without anxiety,” and added, “We will continue to support residents' health in daily life through various projects of the Care SOS Center.”
