[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Maston Investment Management announced on the 25th that it will introduce a luxury beach resort at Hajodae Beach in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do, known as the "Mecca of Surfing."
Through this project, Maston Investment Management plans to transform the Hajodae Beach area into a tourist destination where visitors can enjoy marine leisure and relaxation simultaneously, similar to Waikiki in Hawaii or the Gold Coast in Australia.
Yangyang has recently become one of the most popular tourist destinations among domestic travelers due to the increasing demand for sea view tourism spots. Since two years ago, the number of tourists visiting Yangyang has been sharply increasing by about 10% annually, mainly among young tourists under their 30s. The number of surfing visitors to Yangyang has steadily increased by about 20% annually since 2018, with over 90% of them being tourists under 30.
The Yangyang Hajodae Resort developed by Maston Investment Management is scheduled to be completed in 2026 and will be located at 591 Hagwangjeong-ri, 508 Junggwangjeong-ri, and 503 Junggwangjeong-ri, Hyeonbuk-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do. The resort is adjacent to Hajodae Beach and Junggwangjeong Beach, allowing guests to reach the beach within a one-minute walk from the resort.
With the opening of the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway, Yangyang can be reached within two hours by car from the metropolitan area. In particular, Hajodae Beach is only a six-minute drive from Hajodae IC, offering excellent accessibility.
The Yangyang Hajodae Resort developed by Maston Investment Management will cover a site area of approximately 52,000㎡ (about 16,000 pyeong) and a total floor area of about 159,000㎡ (about 48,000 pyeong). It will consist of tower-type condos near Hajodae Beach and luxury detached houses and villa-type condos adjacent to Junggwangjeong Beach.
The tower-type condos will comprise a total of 327 units with exclusive areas ranging from 18 to 43 pyeong, catering to couples, family visitors, and the growing population of workcationers, mainly from IT companies. Workcation is a compound word of work and vacation, referring to a non-face-to-face work style that combines work and vacation at a desired location.
Lee Su-deok, Head of Domestic Investment Development Division 1 at Maston Investment Management, said, "Yangyang, Gangwon-do, is one of the most notable tourist destinations due to the opening of the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway, the popularity of surfing, and its pristine natural environment." He added, "Through the Yangyang Hajodae Resort, we will develop Yangyang-gun into a global-level resort comparable to Hawaii to welcome domestic and international customers."
