[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province, will operate an on-site communication mayor’s office by visiting 25 towns, townships, and neighborhoods within the jurisdiction starting from Seonsan-eup at 3 p.m. on the 23rd, riding the ‘New Hope Gumi Era On-site Communication Bus’ to listen to local residents’ opinions on site.
This on-site communication visit was prepared to discuss major local issues and suggestions by region in the first year of the mayor’s term.
Under the theme of ‘Seonsan-eup New Hope Happiness Breeze,’ the visit included heads of related organizations and groups, community leaders such as neighborhood chiefs, representatives of social and self-governing organizations, and provincial and city council members representing residents.
During the communication meeting with residents, active discussions were held on local policy implementation related to relocating the Seonsan branch office to strengthen administrative functions in rural areas, establishing the Gyeongbuk headquarters of the Korea Food Research Institute which will serve as a convergence technology research hub for the food industry in Gyeongbuk, promoting the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s public contest project for resident-led Seonsan urban regeneration integrated with culture, and listening to various requests for improving living conditions such as road construction, urban planning changes, and park maintenance.
Through subsequent on-site visits, the city plans to directly hear citizens’ opinions and actively reflect diverse views in city administration. City officials, including heads of departments and branch offices, will accompany the visits to promptly prepare countermeasures for the issues and suggestions raised by attendees.
The mayor encouraged the hard work of the employees of towns, townships, and neighborhoods who are striving for citizens at the forefront of administration and urged them to continue providing public administrative services that satisfy citizens and enhance their sense of experience.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho of Gumi said, “I thank the residents who participated with special interest in the on-site communication mayor’s office that started in Seonsan-eup, where history and tradition breathe, and I will do my best to promote policies for balanced development of rural areas.” He added, “By touring the region and listening to citizens’ voices, we will develop policies suited to the area and further prepare for the integrated new airport era, attract semiconductor specialized complexes, support the cultivation of advanced strategic industries, build a metaverse hub, expand urban-rural symbiotic culture, innovate education and welfare by generation, and realize a romantic city where industry and culture converge. We will do our utmost to successfully achieve these major city administration tasks and build a livable Gumi.”
