Gwangju Nam-gu Replaces Soundproof Wall Near Purugil with Transparent One

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The steel temporary soundproof wall surrounding the Blue Road Park walking trail near the Street Food Zone in Baegun Square, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will be replaced with a transparent soundproof wall.

This is to minimize the damage to Baekyang-ro merchants operating stores around the Blue Road Park walking trail opposite Nam-gu Office.

According to Nam-gu on the 23rd, the replacement work of the steel temporary soundproof wall in Blue Road Park near the Street Food Zone is expected to begin at the end of this month.

Currently, a long gray steel temporary soundproof wall about 255m in length and 3.5m in height is installed from in front of Moa Obstetrics and Gynecology in Blue Road Park to the section opposite Nam Gwangju Nonghyup.

The soundproof wall was installed last February by the Gwangju Urban Railway Construction Headquarters to block noise and dust for the construction of Subway Line 2.

After the steel temporary soundproof wall was installed, store owners operating on Baekyang-ro complained of many management difficulties.

The Baekyang-ro Merchants' Association raised this complaint to the Urban Railway Construction Headquarters in July, stating that large-scale construction projects, including the Baegun Square sewer pipe construction and the Subway Line 2 construction, have been continuously carried out around the Blue Road Park walking trail for over four years, forcing them to endure the damage.

In particular, with the installation of the steel temporary soundproof wall last February, the high barrier between Daenam-daero and the Blue Road Park walking trail caused the stores to be isolated like a remote island, as they were not exposed to the outside.

Nam-gu decided to replace it with a transparent soundproof wall so that stores around the Blue Road Park walking trail and Baekyang-ro area can be visible from the Daenam-daero direction, to resolve the grievances of the Baekyang-ro Merchants' Association and to facilitate the smooth progress of the Subway Line 2 construction.

A Nam-gu official stated, “We plan to start construction at the end of September and quickly complete the installation of the transparent soundproof wall. Once the construction is completed, the Baekyang-ro stores and the Street Food Zone area around the Blue Road Park walking trail will be clearly visible, which is expected to alleviate the sense of isolation from the outside.”
