[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] KoAsia is showing strong performance. The news that Samsung Electronics is participating in the acquisition of the UK semiconductor design company ARM appears to be influencing the stock price.
At 10:21 AM on the 23rd, KoAsia is trading at 8,010 KRW, up 14.92% from the previous day.
KoAsia supplies IT components and system semiconductor solutions. It is the official Design Solution Partner (DSP) of Samsung Electronics' semiconductor foundry division. Together with Samsung Foundry, it provides comprehensive ASIC design services and supply chain management, and it is also an official Approved Design Partner (ADP) of the UK-based ARM. In April 2020, it was selected as Samsung Foundry's official DSP through its subsidiary KoAsia Semi, and in June 2020, it was selected as the official DSP of the UK semiconductor design IP company ARM. The ARM partner qualification includes turnkey SoC (System on Chip) design.
KoAsia Nexel Co., Ltd., an official partner of Samsung Electronics Exynos, responds to in-house chip production demand with chip design technology specialized in customer-customized SoCs and automotive APs based on the autonomous driving international standard ISO26262.
KoAsia is fostering its automotive semiconductor sector. In June, it agreed to supply automotive APs to a Japanese automaker. It also recently secured a turnkey project for the development (NRE) of automotive semiconductors (Automotive Processor SoC) for next-generation infotainment systems.
A KoAsia representative said, "Orders are expanding mainly in Germany and Japan, which have global automakers," and added, "We will continuously grow the automotive semiconductor business by leveraging our vehicle semiconductor design capabilities and the semiconductor sales network of our group companies."
KoAsia has selected the system semiconductor design solution business as its next-generation growth engine and is proceeding with acquisitions, securing personnel, and overseas expansion. In particular, it is intensively fostering the automotive semiconductor business based on the research and development experience and technology of its key customer's automotive AP.
