Dialogue with AI Experts in Toronto... Discussing Korea-Canada Cooperation Strategies
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the fifth day of his tour of the UK, the US, and Canada, President Yoon Seok-yeol arrived in Toronto, Canada, the final country on his itinerary, on the 22nd (local time) and began his schedule.
President Yoon and the First Lady arrived at Toronto Pearson International Airport in the afternoon aboard Air Force One. At the airport, Consul General Kim Deuk-hwan of Toronto, Andrea Hudson, Deputy Protocol Officer of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and Raymond Cho, Ontario Minister for Seniors and Accessibility, came out to welcome them.
Minister Raymond Cho shook hands with President Yoon and said, "Welcome. Congratulations on your election. It seems God loves the Republic of Korea." President Yoon responded, "Thank you."
As the first schedule of his Canada tour, President Yoon visited the University of Toronto to have a dialogue with world-renowned artificial intelligence (AI) scholars. Toronto is a city leading the world in AI industry and related technologies.
Through this dialogue, President Yoon plans to listen to expert advice for advancing Korea as a digital powerhouse and exchange views on cooperation measures between Korea and Canada.
He will also hold a dinner meeting with compatriots residing in the Toronto area. It is known that about 120,000 compatriots live in Toronto.
On the 23rd, President Yoon will visit the capital, Ottawa, to hold a Korea-Canada summit with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and hold a joint press conference. The two leaders are expected to discuss cooperation measures for the global supply chain, among other topics.
